Be A Chef Party

This was another 'just for fun' party. We made chef hats out of poster board and tissue paper. Each child got an apron and they got to make their own pizza. For this particular day, we just bought regular cheese pizzas and let each person add the toppings they wanted. We have done it before where we made our own pizza dough and each person made their own pizza from scratch. It just worked better for the ages of the children we had doing it to have the pizza already started. In the end it didnt matter, they loved their creations and every one was full.
If this was going to be a birthday party or other special occasion, you could have cupcakes that each child would decorate also. Another idea would be do a dessert buffet and let them make ice cream sundaes or banana splits as well. Not everything needs to be 'junk food'. We had fresh spinach and basil to go on the pizzas and since the kids were making their own, they tried more options. It was so much fun to put things on the pizzas so they wanted some of everything on theirs.
The important thing is that each child feels like they got to make their own food and be a chef for the day.

Mythical Creature Party

This party was just for fun in honor of Fairy Day. Since the majority of the guest were boys we added the other creatures to give more variety to the dress. We had a dragon....
A Leprechan.....
A Blue Fairy......
A Genie......
A Giant......
A Pink Fairy.....
and an Ogre....
We did a photo shoot for each character in front of the blue silk back drop and for food we tried to think like the character we were and what they might eat. The cupcakes had pink and blue jello inside and were frosted to look like mushrooms. Lots of sugar and sweets for the fairies, turkey legs for the giant and ogres and chocolate gold coins for the genie and leprechan.
So much fun we will do it every year for Fairy Day and improve on our costumes and activities.

Garden Tea Party

This Garden Tea Party was for our daughters 8th birthday and she had so much fun. It was fun to decorate for it also. I used quilts and tea sets we had and made the party fancy for her.
We used dads ties for the boys and floppy hats and feather boas for the girls.
Food was easy. finger sandwiches, cakes and cookies served with fruit punch and flavored teas.
Here is the recipe for the pink cookies. I used Strawberry cake mix but you can use any flavor you like, try orange or lemon for a tart cookie. Easy Cake Mix Cookies 1 box flavored Cake Mix 1- 8 oz container Cool Whip 1 egg 1/3 cup powdered sugar Preheat oven to 350° In medium bowl, beat cool whip, egg and cake mix until well blended. Dough will be thick and sticky. Drop by teaspoonfuls into a bowl of powdered sugar and roll to coat. Place on wax paper lined cookie sheet and bake for 10- 12 minutes Enjoy! As you can see they were a hit with the guests.
Even boys can have fun at a Tea Party. Especially if it is for their sister.

Star Wars Party

Star Wars is a big favorite in our family. And of course we like to dress up for the parties. This party is for my son's 10th birthday. We invited the guests to dress up as well but we had simple costumes on hand in case they didnt, complete with lightsabers.
We like to create an atmosphere to go with the theme of the party. This time it was by creating a backdrop to look like space.
We keep the food simple and what kids like to eat. We just rename it to be star wars themed.
Games and entertainment can be anything your kids like to do. For this party we did a star wars tournament, movies, crafts and of course lightsaber duels.
Everyone had a great time and many memories were made!
