Disney Descendants Houseparty

We have been participating in HouseParty.com for several years now and each party we win is awesome. The way House Party works is that you sign up and apply to host parties for various companies. If chosen, you will receive a party pack free of charge in the mail and you use the items to host your party. Sharing the free party favors with your guest. And of course posting about the wonderful experience with your friends. You dont always get chosen on the parties you apply to host and that can be disappointing but when you are chosen it makes the  party that much more special. We love to have parties so applying and hosting is a wonderful thing for us. We have parties for various reasons and for no reason regularly anyways so winning a party pack is reason enough for us.

This party was for the Disney Descendants live viewing series premiere and we loved it. I can honestly say that we might not have watched the series premiere if we would not have won the party pack. However giving us a reason to have a party was reason enough to watch the premiere. We totally enjoyed it and will be tuning in more in the future as well.

In the party pack we received were two hard back copies of the novel that the series is based on, bracelets, iron-on transfers, posters,  colorful hair extensions, a canvas bag and a t-shirt. The guest at our party loved the party favors! We also had access to several other items to download and we made good us e of those as well.

We used the books and canvas bag as door prizes. and everyone made a t-shirt with the iron ons. Everyone received bracelets, posters and hair extensions as well.

We downloaded games and printed them out to entertain the guest before the premier came on.

They also provided several recipes and we tried them all and used the downloadable labels  for each item. and made up a few of our own.

We like to have a back drop for photos so we hung a black drop cloth and our own magic mirror. Each guest had an opportunity to take pictures in this area during the party.

Over all the party was great fun and the Disney Descendants premiere was a big hit. We will be tuning in more in the future and look forward to more parties with House Party as well.

Kimber's 3rd Birthday Little Mermaid Style

Kimber LOVES the little mermaid! So does her mom and her aunt and all of us really. So a little mermaid party was so fun for us. Decorating with sea shells and sand just comes natural for us and was so easy to pull things from all over our house for this party. Party favors were sand pails and toys with bubbles. We tried to keep the food simple and fun with the theme. We served foods with sand shovels.

Kimber and her mom, Becca, made chocolates in sea shapes that we put on the cupcakes and cake. We tried making a sand castle cake. Much harder than it looks but with Kimbers help we were able to pull it off. :-) It is made with ice cream cones turned upside down and marshmallows on the cake layer. Frost everything and then dust with crumbled vanilla wafer cookies. We also added more of the chocolate shells and starfish.

We also made oyster shell cookies by frosting vanilla wafers and putting a yogurt covered almond in for the pearl.

We made a seafoam green punch with lime sherbet and blue jello with gummy fish.

We  drew a picture on poster board of a mermaid girl and beach boy for guest to take pictures with. It is always fun to pretend.

We also had a backdrop of blue material to be our ocean and Becca made some jelly fish with streamers and bowls to hang in our sea.

Julie gave Kimber a couple of hermit crabs for her present. We had so much fun. especially eating cake :-)

Mad Hatter Tea Party

We had a mad Hatter Tea Party for our daughters bridal shower. This was so much fun and also elegant enough for a bridal shower. Our shower was in January and our weather was too cold to do this outside but it would have been fun to have outside as well and could easily be adapted to outside in the future.

I made the sign above from an old pallet that I painted. It was a fun addition to the outside of the house and just set the mood before guest entered.

I gathered all the books of Alice and Wonderland or similar fantasy stories  and also older books and books that fit the theme in some way to stack around. I also collected old clocks and all the tea pots and tea cups I could find. Other items were cards and keys, bird cages, rabbits and flowers.

I gathered all my tea cups and had them available. It was fun to use different ones and mix the sets up. You could also find tea cups at a thrift store or antique shop.

We had a variety of teas to choose from. and each person chose their cup and the tea they wanted. We had hot water in thermoses for ease of making tea and all our sweeteners and creams were on the table.

We chose to have finger foods, tarts, and finer sandwiches, as well as fruit trays and veggies. I used candle sticks to hold hats and tea cups between plates for the serving trays. That turned out very cute and functional.

We also had fruit infused water available for those that didnt want hot tea.

One more thing I did in preparing for the party was painted my chairs different colors. We have a lot of wood chairs and I wanted to make the party fun and colorful. I chose chairs that I was okay with painting and knew I could always paint them back after the party. I painted them all different colors. It was fun to have the colors at the party and afterwards my family voted to keep the colors on the chairs.

Some of the games were to have the guest draw a picture of the groom and let the bride choose which one was most like him. We had the groom answer a list of questions and then the guest had to answer the same questions the way they thought the groom would answer them.

We had a small photo album of the bride as a child and the guest had to guess her age in each picture.

It was a fun shower and every one enjoyed the day. Some ideas to consider if the weather is warm and you wanted to have it outside would be to pick a spot under trees. I would still paint my chairs different colors and still use white table cloths on the tables. I would hang lanterns and lights in the trees. Most everything I would do the same just move it all outside.
